Another pretty hefty week – but I’m not feeling too bad about things as I did do an enormous unhaul and got rid of nearly 40 physical books from my shelves! I should probably cool it on NetGalley for a few weeks, though…
ARCs and review copies
The first three are all from NetGalley!
Jane Austen Investigates: The Abbey Mystery by Julia Golding
This new series, featuring a young Jane Austen investigating mysteries, looks like a lot of fun – and that’s a really cool cover.
The Magic Place by Chris Wormell
I’m always on the lookout for middle grade fantasy featuring cats, so this was an obvious one for me to request (the cat is named Gilbert!).
The Three Impossibles by Susie Bower
I loved the sound of this story about a girl trapped in a lonely castle who goes on an adventure to find out the truth about herself – it just sounds so charming!
Book of Fire, City of Dust, and Storm of Ash by Michelle Kenney
In case you missed it, I’m now part of the team at The Fantasy Hive, reviewing YA and other things for them! They offered me the chance to review Michelle Kenney’s dystopian YA trilogy (with the ebooks kindly provided by the author), and I loved the sound of the premise, so I’m hoping to get to these soon.
Waiting for a Scot Like You by Eva Leigh
And last but not least for review copies, I’m SO excited for the third book in the 80s-inspired Regency romance Union of the Rakes series! My Fake Rake and Would I Lie to the Duke (review here) were so much fun, and I can’t wait to read this final instalment!
Mary Bennet and the Bingley Codex by Joyce Harmon
I’m always keen to find new Regency fantasy so when this popped up as a free deal in my Bookbub email, I leapt on it! I don’t usually bother with spin-offs of Pride and Prejudice (because they rarely come close to its greatness) but I hope this will be different enough from the original not to suffer by comparison.
Purchased by me
Prince of Foxes by HL Macfarlane
Another Bookbub deal! This Scottish fairy tale looks right up my street and was on sale for 99p – when I saw that cover I knew I had to check it out, and the writing looks lovely from the sample I read.
The Governess Game by Tessa Dare
The last one of the Girl Meets Duke US covers I needed to complete my collection! I have a real soft spot for this one as it was the first book by Tessa I ever read – I reviewed it here!
A Tangle of Spells by Michelle Harrison
I love this series with its witchy, atmospheric vibes – I have reviews of A Pinch of Magic and A Sprinkle of Sorcery up if you missed them originally. I ordered this pretty stained edge edition of the third book from Waterstones as I just couldn’t resist that green!
What new books did you get this week? Have you read any of these and should I move them up the TBR?
(running 2021 total: 63 books in, 49 read. TBR at 506)
