I’ve read over 200 books so far in 2022, so it’s a great time to check in at the halfway mark with this tag and recap some of my favourites!
Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2021
I think this is between Nettle and Bone by T Kingfisher (which I reviewed here) and Which Way? by Theodora Benson (review here). Two very different books! The former was pure fun, and the latter was just one that really got stuck in my brain.
Best Sequel of 2020 so far
A Mirror Mended by Alix E Harrow is such a fabulous, entertaining book – my review of both books in the series is here!
New Release You Haven’t Read Yet, But Want to
Once again I’m very behind on new releases, but I’m looking forward to All the Seas of the World by Guy Gavriel Kay and The Stardust Thief by Chelsea Abdullah very much.
Most Anticipated Release of the Second Half of 2020
Probably The Grief of Stones by Katharine Addison, or Longshadow by Olivia Atwater, both of which are out very soon!
Biggest Disappointment
The Ikessar Falcon by KS Villoso. I remembered really enjoying The Wolf of Oren-Yaro, but the second book amplified everything I didn’t like about the first one and got rid of everything I did! Scorpica by GR Macallister really missed the mark for me too.
Biggest surprise
Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall! I don’t usually love a contemporary romance but this was so funny and so sweet.
Favourite New Author
I feel like I haven’t read many new-to-me authors this year so far – maybe Foz Meadows? A Strange and Stubborn Endurance blew me away!
Newest Fictional Crush
Peter Blackwell from Subversive by Colleen Cowley was a new entry to the Hot Wizard Boyfriend list.
Newest Favourite Character
Ikenna from The Blood Trials by NE Davenport was pretty awesome!
Book That Made You Cry
I’m not sure any of them have!
Book That Made You Happy?
Meliora by Talli L Morgan is so sweet and romantic! Also, So This Is Ever After by FT Lukens.
Favourite Book to Movie Adaptation You’ve Seen This Year?
As with last year, I haven’t seen any! I don’t really do adaptations and I honestly can’t remember the last time I saw a film.
Favourite Review You’ve Written This Year?
My review of Hedgewitch by Skye McKenna was a fun one to write!
Most Beautiful Book You Bought or Received So Far This Year?
I think maybe Nettle and Bone by T Kingfisher or An Accident of Stars by Foz Meadows. Or the tiny little hardback of A Spindle Splintered by Alix E Harrow.
What Books Do You Need to Read by the End of the Year?
SO MANY. My TBR’s still hovering around 300 books, which is a good reduction from this time last year, but it could be so much better. I’m particularly looking forward to The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna, The Godbreaker by Mike Brooks, and Notorious Sorcerer by Davinia Evans, all of which I have review copies of, so I should hop on those soon!
200!? That’s is so impressive! I think I’m only at like.. 30 something. 😆
Loved these books! I’ll have to check so many out but I’m pretty sure most will end up on my TBR.
Great tag, Asha, and thanks for sharing!

Thank you! 30 is still amazing – any reading in this stressful world is! And sorry for the damage to your TBR, ahaha 🙂

Lol, I’m just feeling sorry for myself but thank you.
But if you’re already at 200 something, I can’t wait to see how many you’re able to read by the end of the year!
(and my TBR will get over it eventually.. probably) 😋
Have a lovely week!
