It should come as no surprise to you, dear reader, that I am an enormous fan of books about witches. Obviously, when I first heard of Picklewitch and Jack, I knew I was going to fall in love with this charming rascal of a witch and her uptight, brainbox friend – and I did!
I love food-based magic. Usually you see it most in middle grade (check out my reviews of Baker’s Magic and The Dragon With A Chocolate Heart!), but The Confectioner’s Guild is a fantastic example of a YA book with excellent food magic, gorgeously tasty descriptions, and plenty of adventure.
When I saw there was a sequel to The Dragon With A Chocolate Heart coming out, I squeaked, immediately put it on pre-order, and requested it on NetGalley. And I’m so glad I did, because this book is just SO good.
The Dragon with a Chocolate Heart is another MG novel with a fantastically vivid use of food – this time, chocolate rather than the buns of Baker’s Magic!
