A dog book that even this dyed-in-the-wool cat person loved? I know, it’s amazing!
This book has been tempting me with its pretty proof for ages now, so I’m so happy I got to read it! It’s a really lovely middle grade read that sensitively explores grief and familial love.
You know I love a magical boarding school, and as a Classicist I was really tempted by the description of Poseidon’s Academy when it popped up on NetGalley. This is a super enjoyable middle grade school adventure!
So, I was fully prepared to come back from my holiday with an apology to my TBR for not having had time or energy to read anything… But, well, that didn’t turn out to be necessary. Over the last 16 days I’ve got through 30 books, which I’m really pleased with! Some of these will get full reviews, but for now, here’s a summary of what I thought.

How could I resist a middle grade tale about dragons and libraries? Well, I couldn’t. This book is just perfect, as if it was written for me, and a whole dragon’s hoard of young bookworms are going to adore it!
I was so excited when I saw Caroline Lawrence was writing a new book, because the Roman Mysteries series was one of my favourites as a kid. Really, they led me to get into Lindsey Davis’ Falco mysteries as a teen, and between the two, they’re responsible for my entire Classics degree. So when I heard about The Time Travel Diaries, I instantly knew I had to read this one!
