A fun sci-fi romp perfect for younger teens and those who like their sci-fi on the cosy side!
I’m thrilled to be part of the blog tour for Cytonic, the third book in the brilliant Skyward series! I was lucky enough to get a glimpse of the first few chapters before its release, so here are my first impressions…
Okay, that’s a clunky title, but I wasn’t sure how else to round up the absolute smorgasbord of information in these gorgeous illustrated non-fiction titles. Little knowledge-seekers will be in heaven with these! All three books were sent to me free of charge, but all opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed The Blue Beyond, the last book in Little Tiger’s full colour early reader series, and when I saw that Rocket Boy was a story about a boy, his cat, and the power of imagination, I leapt at the chance to review it!
When it comes to YA, one of my favourite kinds is the sparkly-dresses-and-marriage-contest kind – think The Selection for the perfect archetype. So I was really excited to hear about The Stars We Steal, which combines those tropes with a space setting and draws inspiration from Jane Austen’s Persuasion – and it was everything I wanted it to be!
I don’t see a lot of middle grade science fiction – certainly not space-based! – so I was really intrigued when Orion Lost showed up unannounced on my doorstep… It’s a really enjoyable rollick of a spaceship adventure!
Victor Dixen’s phenomenal Phobos trilogy comes to an explosive and astonishing end in the finale, Collision!
I’ve had a slump when it comes to high-tech, space-shippy sci-fi for a few… years. But between Elizabeth Bear’s Ancestral Night and this book, I think I’m a reborn spaceship lover??
Elizabeth Bear is one of my favourite authors. I loved Karen Memory with my entire heart (steampunk Seattle noir with badass lesbian prostitutes and giant mecha sewing machines – if you haven’t read it, you gotta!), and when I was lucky enough to meet her at a Gollancz event a couple of years ago, she’s just the nicest, funniest person and I kind of want to be her when I grow up. Anyway. I was thrilled to be offered a spot on this blog tour for her newest book, Ancestral Night, which is a huge, sweeping space opera. It’s SO good. Continue reading “Blog Tour: Ancestral Night”
Listen, I was sold on this book the second someone said the words: “Gay space King Arthur”.
